  • Sunday morning church services in Gaelic at the Free Church of Scotland in Barvas on the Isle of Lewis. Minister is Calum Ian MacLeod. Women wear hats, there is no piano or organ, hymns sung by "precentation" which is akin to lining out style, the elder singing a line and being followed by the congregation. Very eerie, beautiful music.

  • A family bible lies open in a deserted croft house on North Ronaldsay, the most remote of the Orkney Islands. When crofters left (or were displaced by landowners) they often simply walked away, evidenced by the cups and saucers still sitting on the shelves. The slate roof has fallen in letting in the rain and sunlight.

  • At the Bobo Shanti compound in St. Andrew, Jamaica, a hilltop enclave dedicated to following the teachings of King Emannuel Charles Edwards. Life is highly ordered around the precept of preparing for all black Jamaicans to return to Africa, and specifically Ethiopia. The Bobo Shanti use the King James Bible extensively in their worship and theology, singing Psalms everyday.
