Harvesting sorghum in Mali

Harvesting sorghum in the Wakoro region of Mali. Sorghum grain heads are collected after the tall stalks have been knocked over, then taken to be threshed and winnowed.

People seen in these pictures include:
Tiecoura Dembele (man in blue shirt and white cap)
Rachelle Coulibaly
Djenebou Dembele (the girl in blue dress hold sorghum)
Seriba Dembele (the older man holding sorghum heads)

They have about 30 people in their family farm group and think they grow about 12 tons of sorghum. They will keep 7 tons for family consumption and sell 5 tons on the market.
