Tallgrass Prairie | Lines of fire in the Flint Hills
Spring burning of the Flint Hills north of Matfield Green, Kansas. Part of the prairie ecosystem, fire has been a prime player in the evolution of the prairie grasses. The grasses benefit because the fire suppresses the growth of new trees.
