Tallgrass Prairie | Fire on the Prairie
Spring burning of the Flint Hills, along Four Mile Creek Road, southwest of Council Grove, Kansas. Part of the prairie ecosystem, fire has been a prime player in the evolution of the prairie grasses. The grasses benefit because the fire suppresses the growth of new trees.
