While in Provence and Scotland recently I was delighted to wander the streets and pubs at night with the new Nikon D700 and see what I could do, sans tripod. Herewith are a few of the images, all hand held, all at ISO 2500 or higher.  I left the camera on default noise reduction.  Several of these images also used the new Nikkor 24mm PC-E lens to achieve a very shallow depth of field.  Needless to say I was astounded at what is now possible.
